August RDH Blog of the Month – Henhurst Interiors

Today I am pleased to introduce you to the RDH August blog of the month – Henhurst Interiors.

I discovered Henhurst Interiors not too long ago while reading Tone on Tone – another RDH blog of the month – and instantly felt a connection to the warm, comfortable and inviting decorating style Phyllis infuses into the spaces she designs.

Phyllis has an interior design business – also called Henhurst Interiors - located in Vermont.  She is a busy mom, wife and owner of two dogs and believes that beautiful interiors can be compatible with an active lifestyle. (I love this philosophy!)

Last month, Phyllis took a road trip south and stopped at several shops on my bucket list of “must visit” places.   Her tour included Trouvaille (Bonny Neiman’s store in Summit, NJ), the Ekster Antiquesbarn sale in Hamilton, Virginia and Loi Thai’s shop Tone on Tone as well as his beautiful home.

After seeing the photos of her tour I now have an even greater desire to undertake a road trip of my own!

One of my favorite regular features on Henhurst Interiors is Phyllis’ “Words to Decorate By” series.  Phyllis chooses a quote by a well-known designer and includes a picture from their portfolio.  Here is one of my favorites by Charlotte Moss - “Decorating is like music. Harmony is what we constantly strive for.”

Besides travelling in the United States, Phyllis also recently spent time in England where she visited with her cousin and family.

It was such a treat to follow along her journey and see all the wonderful photos of the places she visited – my favorite being Sissinghurst.

There is so much more to see at Henhurst Interiors so be sure to stop by for a visit.  Thanks once again to another fabulous blogger for allowing me to feature your blog!

Newly Painted Chairs

Thank you for those of you who left comments on my last post about prepping tips. I will definitely keep them in mind for future reference.

So, I only shared the shadow of a chair in my last post. I am done painting... Are you ready to see them?

I am going to be a tease and show you a before pictures of both chairs first.

I found this windsor chair at a local thrift store. I was looking for a windsor chair, boy was I lucky... They were a set of three for $40! I needed two more chairs for my dining table, so it was a perfect deal! Did you know that pretty good windsor chairs cost anywhere from a couple hundred to thousands (if it's a rare antique piece)?

I LOVE this one that I found at a moving sale for a steal (it was so long ago, I can't remember if I paid $5 or $15). I love the style of this chair; I found a similar style chair on Pottery Barns’ website for $300... Oh, I love thrifting. :)

I painted them both white. I know, I know, painting furniture white is kind of boring for some people, but I can't help it. That is the color I love! There is other furniture I am thinking about painting with "color", but who knows what will happen in the last minute.

So, I was trying to decide where to place them around the house. I think I will keep them like this for a while until I have a better idea.

or, maybe by the door?

It was a lot of work, but it is always so thrilling to see the end result. I keep staring at my dining table and chairs and trying to decide if I have enough energy left in me to give them a face lift.

Psst... I added some stuff to my etsy store. I know some of you told me that you are interested in purchasing my jewelries, please go check it out to see what's there. I might add more later on.
