Miracles

It has been an eventful week here at the Red Hen Home!  Just a week ago, I shared the news that my family is moving to Seattle.  Yesterday I sent my husband off on the long drive so he can start his new job on Monday.  But before that…after only six days on the market…we sold our house!

Some of you may have been with me a year ago when we tried to sell our house…and it didn’t take!  Although we did receive one offer, we weren’t able to come to an agreement with the potential buyers.  So we made up our minds to be happy where we were…and we have been.

We chose to invest a lot of time, money, and attention in our home over the past several months.  We put up a wall in the basement to create additional storage, repainted the main level of the house and bought some beautiful new furniture, remodeled the laundry room, and built a workshop.

Is it hard to leave all that behind?

Oh, yeah baby.

But if it has to happen, we are so grateful that we were able to sell quickly.  Now the search for the new Red Hen Home begins in earnest!

Wish us luck!

New Project Alert

While Katy from No Big Dill was visiting UT, we had a chance to hang out together. I was so excited to finally meet her in person. She took me to some fun places that I didn't even know existed. Thank you Katy for making the time to meet me, it was such a delight!

One of the places was a candy shop. There they sold lollipops and such, but I found this "perfume candy". I had never heard of such a thing, I was really curious to try it, I decided to buy one and give it a try.

Aren't they so beautiful? Those candies really tasted like perfume (in a good way), it was bit of a foreign flavor to me at first, but soon I started to love it!

I loved the vintage looking can so much that it actually inspired me to do something with it (HUGE grin). I am being a little tease and will just show you one picture. Yeap, I added pom-pom trim, but that's not all I did (still grinning). Can you guess what I came up with?

I will share the tutorial sometime next week.

Don't forget to link your project or leave comment on my last post for the giveaway.

I will announce the winner on Monday!

If you love the color turquoise and all its many tones and pretty shades, then you are in great company!  It seems lots of people love this wonderful color.  In fact, Erin loves turquoise so much that she created an entire blog called House of Turquoise dedicated to showcasing this pretty color.

I have been following Erin at House of Turquoise for quite some time and was so thrilled when she said yes to being featured today as the Red Door Home November blog of the month!

Erin finds and shares the prettiest pictures - all featuring some variation of her favorite color. I have shared a few of my favorites from her blog throughout this post.

Most people probably think of turquoise as being just one specific shade of blue.  House of Turquoise shows that there are so many hues and deviations of this wonderful color that there really are no limits when it comes to decorating with turquoise.

Besides her wonderful blog, Erin also has a great online store called Everything Turquoise.

Here you can find anything from pajamas to scissors to linens and everything in between all in – you guessed it - the color turquoise.  It really is a great concept.

I hope you will take the time to visit Erin at House of Turquoise.   Her blog is simply beautiful!
