Nursery Wall

I have one of the best neighbors on the planet. Not only does she run over here on a moment's notice to give her opinion on any and all of the projects I work on, but she and her husband also helped a TON in getting me to the Spring Market a few weeks ago!

In return, she gets to shop through my garage once in a while. :-)

When she was looking for ideas for her daughter's bedroom wall, she discovered this mirror in my stash:

I painted it with Rustoleum Heirloom White for her, and then we glazed it with brown craft paint. Unfortunately...it was still a little too "creamy." So we tried glazing it with white paint next, and it worked great! It toned down the "creamy" and made it work better with the whites in the nursery. (I loved the white glazing so much I used it on a few projects right after that!)

Here's the wall space before:

And here's the beautiful AFTER!

The "L" was one of those gold "L"'s from Hobby lobby. I painted it pink, and then we glazed it with white to give it some depth. She already had the footprints framed, and we found a complementary white frame for the yellow temple picture she found on-line. I will claim the brilliant idea of using a plate for the 5th element, but she found the perfect bird plate at Pier 1 (there are other bird decorations in the room).

I never had the money, time, or interest to decorate a nursery when my babies were little...glad I get to live vicariously through my neighbor's baby now!

Be sure to check out this post for a giveaway! Ends May 2.

THE PRINCESS and the GLASS SLIPPER.....AN INTERIOR TALE....

This is the tale of a beautiful castle, with lovely interiors !! and a princess who lived there.Gather round, everybody and I will tell you a tale of a Princess. Are you all sitting comfortably ? Then I'll begin.
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. Last night, she had been out to a 'right old shindig' !!!!!!.

She had hung up her dress and had fallen into bed at a very late hour.

It was late when she awoke and she jumped out of bed. There were many chores to be done. She may be a princess, but in this day and age, one had to pull ones weight !!

She lingered a while at the open window and breathed in the wonderful fresh air. Then. she remembered. She had left one of her glass slippers at the rave !!!!!

This made her cross, as now she would have to go and get it, as they had been a present from her father, the King, and he would never forgive her, as they had cost a princely sum.
Louboutin didn't come cheap and the Royal Purse was suffering a bit because of the recession !!!!

She remembered now. She had lost it on the stairs as she ran for the taxi.

If she didn't find it she would turn into a white pumpkin and that would never do. Not much call for white pumpkins, nowadays, except for Halloween decorations and they were usually orange !!!!

She ran into the bathroom........

......... splashed her face with rose petal water........

..........finished her chores..........

............. locked her bedroom door........

................ hitched up her skirts...........

............ and ran down the castle staircase .......

She had a quick princess-like breakfast (never go without breakfast, even though you've lost a glass slipper !!!!)

She then ran through the kitchen.......

............... skirted round the dining room .........

............ along by the daybed in the sitting room ( no time for a read or a golden pear today).........

.................. through the lounge..........

....... passed the dress that was being made for her (Oh, how pretty she was going to look in that wonderful creation. Who cared about The Royal Purse.( Live now, pay later was her motto!! ) ......

............. through the Salon, where everyone was discussing the events of the night before, and what they might have got up to but couldn't remember !!!! ..........

She ran through the courtyard................

............... passed the washing line, full of the courts wonderful clothing ..........

.............. passed the pond where that frog turned into a prince, last summer.........

................. tip toed through the looking glass meadow , and there, on the wall,.......

was her slipper, looking like an abandoned can of lager....... no Fairy Godmother, no crystal coach and, more importantly, no handsome prince., and they all lived unhappily ever after !!!!

HANGING AROUND .............

My last two posts have been rather frivolous and silly, after which, I have probably lost many of my followers, as you probably think that I'm completely bonkers.!!!! I would like to reassure you that I am 100% sane, and those men in white coats are not coming to take me away !!!! YET !! Here to prove it, I am back with some lovely images of beautiful interiors, all of which have a 'hanging' theme....... whoa...don't worry...there isn't a man with a blindfold and noose, just some pretty interiors to start off the week. What a beautiful room with that MASSIVE mirror.....I shall be wearing the above dress to go to the supermarket today !!!!
Actually, it is becoming rather autumnal now so, maybe this would be a good idea as I walk past the freezers in the frozen goods section !!!!

Don't worry Dustjacket Attic (a wonderful fashion blog), I'm not trying to become a fashionista !! Just showing you this fabulous wardrobe.

Some of you will know that I have used this picture before, but it is appropriate to my post title as the beautiful wisteria is a lovely 'hanging' example.

What a pretty and functional way to hang clothes or towels or anything that needs to be hung up !!!!

Saucepans hanging in the kitchen,.... and what a kitchen.

Now, this one is a bit gratuitous and it only just makes it in as it's got the tea towel 'hanging' from the drawer !!!! I think it's one of my favourite interiors photographs. Not only is the dresser mouth watering but so are the meringues and the champagne !!!!

Summer is nearly over, here in the U.K. and an autumnal chill has started to wake us up in the morning, so here is a colourful hanging basket to say goodbye to the Summer. See, I'm not all about the white and there's even a touch of pink in there !!

A lovely image of lanterns and a snowy white voile curtain.

Down in the potting shed there is a whole world of 'hanging' items.

Gorgeous bags hanging on a delightful wardrobe. Always a nice idea to hang treasured items instead of hiding them away,

I couldn't possibly do a post about 'hanging' without including Venice. This sight is seen every time you turn the corner , and when has washing looked more beautiful....doesn't quite have the same feel in my back garden !!!!

Gorgeous, sparkly chandeliers.....twinkling crystals to add a wonderful ambiance to a room. I actually love this idea of the three hanging together. Our friends, Lucy and Steve ( holiday, going up the pub, any other social event, hanging out, best of friends !!) have adopted this way of lighting and it looks great.

White and very pale pink, floaty, diaphanous clothes look beautiful, again, not hidden away in drawers and wardrobes.

Old shutters, distressed chair, beautiful candelabra. Add a basket for a bit of texture and what have you got ? A fabulous bathroom ........ not forgetting the lacy camisole on a vintage hanger.

I love this idea of a branch, painted white, held up by thin chains .........doesn't it look great and not very expensive, either.

................ and finally, wire baskets, straining spoons, call them what you will. I'm not sure what they're called. I just know that they look brilliant, all hanging in a row like this.
Hope that you have all enjoyed 'hanging around' with me today and maybe you have got some ideas that you can use in your own homes.
